I just found and read this article today. Searching Mastodon with "Peter Putnam" found me several people who linked to the article, including Greg Egan.

Better late than never. It's an excellent long form article by Amanda Gefter about physicist/philosopher Peter Putnam, one of John Wheeler's students, and why he vanished from academia.

Happy birthday to mathematician and NASA scientist Katherine Johnson (née Coleman; 1918 – 2020). One of the first Black women employed as a NASA scientist (and its predecessor NACA), she was known for her mastery of complex manual calculations of orbital mechanics and played a pivotal role in the success of the US crewed spaceflights from the beginning.
