A while back, I picked a bird at random and doodled it every day for a few days. I鈥檝e been wanting to get back to it because it was fun and taught me a lot about drawing.

So here is a marsh grassbird (or Japanese swamp warbler)!

Hello fellow #painting folks. I am seeking advice. I have a pile of acryla gouache that I want to use, but my attempts at making a DIY wet palette have made the experience of using acrylics miserable, especially compared to water color and gouache. Maybe it's just my lack of experience, but I really dislike what I've done in the past (basically wax paper sitting on top of a bed of wet paper towels).

I've looked at commercial solutions, but they all seem to be some proprietary system of "buy our initial kit, and then continue to buy refills until you die or we discontinue the product" and I kind of hate that.

So, my question is: What do you use for a wet palette? What do you like about your solution? What do you not like about your solution?
