I'm just gonna put this out here again: changing #Bridgy Fed opt-in policy would increase its ability to bridge people over, without hurting anyone's privacy.
1. If you reply or react to a post from the other network, a stub profile should be created with that action shared.

2. If you follow an account from the other network, a stub profile should be created.
3. Addressing an account over the bridge should be possible prior opt-in - at least if either of above is true.
4. Opt-in may remain for bridging non-reply public posts.

These policies would remove the current "stalker follow" of people who see a bridged user without themselves being bridged. The recently implemented "these reactions to you were not bridged" DM is an improvement, but not a solution.

The reply or reaction are public on both networks. It's not like it couldn't be seen without bridging. But not informing the OP is, and I've said this before, a breach of "contract" (or convention, if you prefer).
If you don't wish your public reaction to be seen, don't post it.
