Supplementary info of scientific articles enhances #transparency, #reproducibility & scientific impact. This study presents #FAIR-SMART, a tool that enables #FAIR computational access to these materials at scale, improving findability, interoperability & reuse @PLOSBiology plos.io/3KBYLHs

Left: Correlation between the sizes of supplementary materials (SM) and main texts. Right: Distribution of SM data size per article across different journal fields, highlighting the variation in SM data usage among research areas.

Yesterday, we had a great review for our second DFG funding period! 🚀

Many thanks to the reviewers and the #DFG for their time and thoughtful input. Thanks also to @NFDI and York Sure-Vetter for their ongoing support.

We had a valuable and constructive discussion that provided insightful perspectives on our past and proposed work.

We’re excited about the next steps ahead!

Where will I be in early March 2026?

In Stuttgart! At the deRSE conference. I intend to submit a couple of work items dealing with my favourite workflow management system. And the call for contributions is open: https://mastodon.social/@de_rse/115270954346336457

To give you an idea of what I have in mind, a few hashtags:

I'm at the Open Science Conference 2025 in Hamburg this week - the conference is kicking off with a keynote by Erik Schultes (from @universiteitleiden ).

The programme has AI written all over it, I hope for interesting, critical discussions instead of #AIhype...
