Le #NIH souhaite plafonner les #FraisDePublication ( #APC) et soumet à consultation publique plusieurs options suivantes, mais attention aux potentiels effets indésirables ⚠️

Honestly, I’m tired of analysing the endless shades of brown in scholarly publishing. 💩 That’s why I decided to focus only on the top-5 publishers that provided full #APC waivers for Ukrainian authors during the war.
📑 Details in my preprint: https://arxiv.org/abs/2505.12134v2
This is an attempt to take a sober look: did these exceptional measures truly help Ukrainian researchers, and why does the APC system remain so far from equitable even under crisis conditions?
A new preprint on Ukrainian publications in Gold Open Access has a very telling Figure 12. And you know what? It’s a total disaster.

It turns out that the largest shares of our APC spending go to MDPI and the Polish Aluna Publishing House. Even worse — the top list also includes “famous” players like WSEAS, Sciedu Press, and the Georgian Association of Business Press = dubious publishers.
