In particular, messengers have a "streaming problem": you need to check half a dozen platforms one after the other to stay on top of things and frankly it's a terrible way to organize one's communication channels.

@seanfobbe Nice article and I fully agree. Sadly E-Mail has one annoying downside: Self hosting is rather complicated as far as I can tell.

I run my own Matrix instance, which is quite easy. I would be curious to have a closer look at @delta but do not have the time at the moment. Even the pre-configured setup looks much more complicated than my Matrix setup.
