If under Obama, someone had told me that just 10 years later, the US would fall apart, I would not have believed it.

But here we are.

@randahl Shutdowns are common in the US. So, it's not really an image of the US falling apart, yet.

@randahl Since 2002; an documentary/interview with @peterschwartz2 and JimRogers on Dutch TV. Jim Rogers predicted a “political, economical or military crises - or all of the above”. In retrospective, this documentary was a blueprint for what we’ve seen happening since.

@randahl The writing was on the wall when the Supreme Court picked Bush over Gore. It became clearer when Mitch McConnell obstructed Obama in appointing an SC judge and cheated Biden out of appointing one. Obama was like one of those jumping slopes in a downhill race: the US went up for a bit, but came down going even faster.

Let’s hope they can brake before the actual ravine. I doubt they will. Current events show the nasty side of America. A side that it has always had.

@randahl
Shutdown, it doesn't surprise me, I was sure it would happen (with so many confrontations) and the fact that the longest shutdown in history happened under Trump too:

How long do government shutdowns last? How often do they happen?

Congress has walked up to the edge of a shutdown numerous times in recent years, but prolonged closures are rare.
