Hegseth to US generals:
Screw the Constitution, screw rules of engagement, screw morals and ethics. You're now the enforcers of the Republican party against all internal dissent and free speech.

If this isn't a five-alarm fire to every media outlet in the country...

@petergleick If those soldiers that commit atrocities ever go outside of the country, however:

Former Philippine President Duterte is
in custody in The Hague, having been
charged by the International Criminal
Court for ordering the summary
execution of alleged drug traffickers.

This week Trump authorized the
summary execution of 11 alleged drug
traffickers on board a vessel targeted
by a military strike in the Caribbean sea.

@petergleick it is all going to one objective:
To cause enough uproar and emergency that the mid terms will not happen or if the results are not MAGA like it will be killed due to emergency. I also strongly believe 2024 was the last open and sort of fair federal election for one or two decades to come.
There is no way out.
A) if the people dont demonstrate, MAGA wins
B) if they do, they create an emergency and their will be no elections
C) It doesn’t matter. SCOTUS will decide in MAGAs favor

@petergleick

"The duty to obey in the armed forces is governed by the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Articles 90, 91, and 92 require service members to obey lawful orders, creating a duty to disobey patently illegal ones. An order is unlawful if it directs a crime, violates the Constitution, or contravenes the laws of war.

The Nuremberg trials after World War II established that 'following orders' is not a defense for committing war crimes."

(from https://legalclarity.org/your-right-to-disobey-an-unlawful-order/ )

Let's take a moment to dwell on "creating a duty to disobey patently illegal [orders]".

LegalClarity

Your Right to Disobey an Unlawful Order

Navigating commands from authority requires knowing the difference between a lawful directive and one you have a legal duty to refuse.

GOP billionaires are busy converting the armed services into their personal gang enforcers & triggermen.

Every criminal syndicate requires a supply of kneecappers & thuggish muscle.

"Thank you for your service" becomes alarming when an army becomes a looting & pillaging horde, like Russia's.

How many American military personnel are willing to die so billionaires can keep getting richer?

How the Russian Billionaires Provide Mercenaries to the Russian Army

Oleg Deripaska, Leonid Mikhelson, Gennady Timchenko, and other businessmen recruit volunteers for the war on salaries. In the meantime, their businesses, which is involved in this — Rusal, Novatek, PIK, Mospromstroy — successfully avoid sanctions

At least 81 Russian billionaires have business links to Russia’s military or to annexed Ukrainian territories amid the war in Ukraine, the independent investigative outlet Proekt reported Monday.

@petergleick @blogdiva You mean the generals who sent thousands to their deaths in Vietnam, Iraq (twice), Afghanistan, etc, because the republicans asked them to do so? Or should we go back further to when the military was killing the indigenous population to make room for you? These are not good people, they’re not driven by “morality”.
