Don’t you have digital IDs in UK yet?
In Sweden, we have BankID which is a private endeavour between banks that has worked so well that most governments agencies and other private companies use it to identify people online.
Swedish government has been looking into getting a service that doesn’t rely on the banks…but we’re still waiting.
the UK is notoriously shy when it comes to showing "papers", but I don't think that's the core issue with the Digital ID scheme - it's really the scope of it.
Nobody needs a digital ID to report a pothole (or other infrastructure problem), but it seems every agency, and their proverbial pets, will have access to the system. Since Brexit GDPR has been even more of a joke in the UK than before, and this scheme is just a great way of DOX'ing yourself everywhere.

I really can't fathom the reasoning behind that announcement.
Is a misguided attempt at soothing the right, combined with a "we can't u-turn on another policy announcement" mindset?
Is it a conspiracy involving UKgov and tech billionaires?
Have they somehow been backed into a corner and this is somehow the only solution?
Its really impressive/baffling how they are continually nailing their own coffins shut.

@Lazarou it is incredible how he blunders from one thing to the next, over and over. A bit like how he's not yet replaced the tory board at the bbc, did he also forget to replace the tory advisory board when he moved into No 10? Like, these people advising him *can't* be on his side.
@Dss @Lazarou Starmer is an actor, playing a role, in a play. What he is doing is entirely scripted and on purpose. The ultimate goal of the current elite is war. Liberals/Leftists don't favour war, you need Fascists who love war. #ww3 is the goal b/c elites are *desperate* for a big pay day, to get it the public needs to be moulded towards fascism then bloodlust (civil war) then war. Starmer serves these elite, this agenda, in this perfectly choreographed play, to manufacture consent for WW3.

Sounds like one of those dodgy 'adult education' companies that sells courses that aren't accredited and needs payment in cash up front....
@Lazarou I’ve actually done an apprenticeship with them, even though I was in my late 40s, and it was ok. They do the training but the final assessment is with a 3rd party govt accredited assessor (like most apprenticeships I think). The company does seem as though it was set up purely to hoover up the apprenticeship levy that large companies are obliged to spent or donate.
