So, everyone saying that Online Safety was the reason #Imgur blocked the UK is going to update their posts now, right?

@Edent I'd guess 90% of the traffic to Imgur (including their CDN) is anonymous, non-authenticated users. Embedded images. Social media posts. Blog comment attachments...

You must accept that continuing to run an image hosting platform like that with UK users is basically impossible now?

Pretending that the OSA isn't a part of this at all is silly.

@Edent@mastodon.social Or you could say something along the lines of "According to the ICO's statement which has since been released, imgur's action may be GDPR rather than OSA related."

@Edent It would be interesting to get a statement from Imgur themselves as to why they woke up this morning and chose viol-withdrawl of service.

@Edent From the original - "We also announce we are investigating how Reddit and Imgur assess the age of their child UK users "

weasel words.

@etchedpixels literally not.

You get that the ICO and Ofcom are two completely different organisations, right?

@Edent Two bits of one government that routinely work together to figure out who has the best hammer to use on a given "problem" the government has assigned them.

@etchedpixels sorry dude, you are not tall enough for this ride.

Come back when you've understood the difference between GDPR and OSA.
