An order from US District Judge Margaret Garnett directed prosecutors to explain in a filing due Oct 3 how the prohibited out-of-court comments transpired “& what steps are being taken to ensure that no future violations occur.”

Garnett wrote that top #DOJ officials cited by Mangione’s lawyers “appear to be in direct violation” of court rules & an earlier #CourtOrder prohibiting such statements.
