There was no official announcement from the #Trump admin that the #California #NationalGuard was being called up & sent to #Oregon, just as was the case when #Illinois’ governor made a similar announcement Saturday about #troops in his state being activated.

Newsom, a Democrat, said in a statement that CA personnel were on their way Sunday & called the deployment “a breathtaking abuse of the law & power.”

Several #protesters were seen being detained by agents, including one person being taken down to the ground by at least 3 officers.

#Chicago #Police officers who arrived were greeted with shouts from protesters complaining that the police were not protecting them. Protesters remained until federal agents left around 4PM.

Following the shooting, at about noon, #protesters began gathering on a stretch of Kedzie Ave with small businesses on one side of the street & a rail yard on the other. The protesters lined both sides & chanted, “ICE go home.” Some protesters threw water bottles. When agents used #TearGas & pepper balls, the protesters briefly dispersed & then returned.

But the Chicago PD “is not involved in the incident or its investigation. Federal authorities are investigating this shooting,” the spox said.

The shooting happened about 10:30AM, according to workers at the Clark gas station & Liantas Tires.
