I've been looking at #nlnet for a while, since they are continuously providing small to medium grants for all kinds of cool open-source projects, including brand-new developments and technologies, improvements of long-standing projects, and even a specific fund for fediverse projects!
Their list of funded projects (https://nlnet.nl/project/index.html) is also a great place to find cool new projects!
