The agency analysis includes bone-headed mistakes, for example, supporting the claim that the decline in Arctic sea ice has been small by citing data from Antarctica. Or supporting a claim about climate-related crop losses in the US by citing data from France. In other places there are signs of deception beyond simple factual error. Quoting Jennifer Marlon, director of data science at the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication: “It is almost a user’s guide on how to lie with figures.”
