@HeidiSeibold
I put all of my animations on Wikimedia Commons. And while they all could in principle go on a Wikipedia page, in practice only 10% or so are.
The admins there care a lot about licence and proper categorization, but are not strict in term of what the image represent. 🙂

Might be worth having a look at how Allison does it: https://allisonhorst.com/

@dg3hda that would not be quite the intended purpose of the fediverse, would it?

I like the sentiment though..

@HeidiSeibold Its experimental enough. give it its own accound (possibly marked as bot) and play. You can still feed other patforms you might get recommended here.

Wikimedia Commons could be a good option. Here are the contributing guidelines https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Contributing_your_own_work

@JMMaok thanks, I did look at that and it seems like you should only publish images there that you think could be used in a @wikipedia article.

That would not be the case, I think.

I like the Wikimedia Commons idea, but maybe #pixelfed https://pixelfed.org/ would also work?

Got it, yes, although I think the use can extend more broadly to other Wikimedia projects, such as maybe Wikiversity in your case?

@JMMaok @wikipedia hmm… that‘d be cool. I really like Wikimedia and would love for my images to be there, honestly.

I just got a little scared by the guidelines to be honest. 😬

I know @turingway publishes their illustrations on Zenodo, but I wonder if that is a good place for sharing images. Any thoughts?
