I came back from my travels yesterday evening and did a quick trip to the allotment to check things were fairing okay. The snapdragons are back in bloom and my August-sown calendula plants are coming into flower. Made a couple of posies for the mantelpiece.

Three stems of calendula flowers. They have very dense rows of petals, with the tips of the petals in a dark burnt orange and the rest of the petal being a pale peachy orange. Where the petals are still closed in the centre it gives the impression of a dark centre even though it’s just the burnt orange colour of the upright petal tips showing.

A small flower posy containing one white and yellow snapdragon stem, three steams of pale purple dahlia with a pompone shape and yellow centre, and two small stems of perennial white asters to use as spray.
