I live a half of a mile from one of the intersections with the highest rates of violent crime in #Portland. I hear gunshots every month or two. I can tell you that not once would I characterize this city as anything like a war zone.

Yes, I’ve had two car break-ins in as many years, there are poor people here and there is crime but I believe most of it is done without malice by people just trying to survive.

I did Uber Eats for a few years and I’ve been all over this city full of beautiful people who welcome people like me. Not everyone but the majority.

Certainly, there are dangerous areas of Portland but I’ve felt equally unsafe in Vancouver, Washington, all over Maryland and Virginia as well as Colorado. My hometown, Denver is still the only place I have been directly threatened with violence.

If Trump wanted to reduce crime here he could send funding, builders, social workers and people in healthcare like a real President may try to do.

Trump, on the other hand is nothing more than a spiteful bully intent on spreading cruelty and fear, hoping to incite violence.

Send whatever agents you want, this city will outlive your tyranny. When you are nothing more than a pathetic note in our history books, Portland will still be here.

A better country is just over the horizon.
