As someone who has worked in European #PublicAffairs on both sides, I can say without a doubt that threatening the #EU doesn't work.
Notwithstanding the ethical implications of this, it's just a bad public affairs strategy. You're in a staring competition against 27 countries and you're betting they'll all blink together before you do. That's a losing bet
