Help me out here. Isn't the form of government that takes over management of private companies and takes financial stakes in corporations called... communism or socialism?

@petergleick Let's put this in the THIRD folder called "things Hitler did". He beautified Berlin, and that was a major thing with him. He called it "World Capital Germania" and his vision was to turn it into a Nazi utopia. None of it was actually built because he didn't have enough money for all his other nutty bullshit.

@petergleick no, neither of those things. In #Communism, the state withers away entirely and all power devolves down to local communes within which most property is held in common. In #Socialism, the means of production are owned and controlled by the workers, again leaving no role for the state.
@petergleick For shame, certainly you know better. Hitler's party was what? Nationalist what? There's way more nuance here, primarily centered on government by and for business interests or of, by, and for the people.
