@adron @ClimateNewsNow @Lizbon A *slight* caveat of this research is that the catalyst that does the breaking down is CdS nanocrystals. Cadmium is a heavy metal, and cadmium sulfide is both toxic and carcinogenic. For these reasons, cadmium has been banned from industrial applications (mostly in electronics) in most of the world for a while now.

Making nanocrystals out of it and then somehow making sure those never make it out of the treatment process sounds like an engineering nightmare to me.
