There's this interesting quote from an old guy named Jefferson that I hope some of these military people might keep in mind right now:

what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms. […] the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. it is it's natural manure.

Because the people who normally use this quote sure don't.
