@randahl these people need to look up the definition of socialism. They're doing more socialist stuff than Zohran. But unfortunately they're doing it very badly.
@randahl @briankrebs And we all know what a “great” agriculture the USSR had!
@randahl It's amazing to me how quickly they all got on board with Maoism once it had an avatar they liked.
@randahl it’s worse than it seems, all those farmers are millionaires, so first they got a huge tax cut, then they get more money on top of it. @sarahtaber could likely explain the grift in great detail.
@randahl I guess reversing the tariffs would be too difficult to do at this stage of the game b/c it would be a loss of face for DJT. And it wouldn't matter anyway - China has already renegotiated deals with Brazil and other countries for soybeans et. al.
This is what happens when a moron who doesn't understand how the commodities markets work takes power and issues orders with nothing but yes-people to do his bidding 🤦♂️
@randahl
The funniest part to me is her acting like losing *exports* affects our ability to feed ourselves. The US government has spent 70 years finding and creating markets for these farmers who don't want to grow more difficult crops that could bring more profit and be more healthy for us here.
@randahl who tanked the farmers’ ability to sell their crops, Sarah?
I bet Trump will demand partial ownership in exchange for bailing them out.

@randahl I thought they want a slim government and no state intervention? Isn't that what they promised?! Go figure... 🙃
I'm not going to write what I think about them, not sure if that would be actionable threats against named persons. Happy friendship day, I guess, WTYP style.
@randahl I think she means he eats a lot, yeah?
@randahl The cool thing about wrecking the economy and then subsidizing the rubble is that it makes everyone directly dependent on Dear Leader's largesse.
See also, the tariff and visa policies that are basically unworkable; but you can get an exception ('in the national interest') if you kiss the pinkie ring.
@randahl Farmers who voted for Trump knew this would happen, that Trump would ruin agriculture but who cares as long as the fed pays them off. This happens with every Republican administration. We also shouldn't let the Dems off easy on this either, very quick to help ag despite farmers being wealthier than the average family.
@randahl
It is a cold calculated strategy to bankrupt and collapse the country, see accelerationism.
@randahl I didn't have "Sarah Sanders of all people becomes a staunch socialist" on my bingo card :P
@randahl "please save the people you shafted" -- FFS.
@randahl the worst thing is: the farmers knew FOTUS plan to destroy their business, they voted for him anyways because they counted on subventions. They willingly steered into this & gave up their freedom, business & independance. And now they play cry baby, because they now feel the existential threat. I am so puzzled how USAmericans can know something - ignore it, only react once their feeling sets in. Mostly feelings of pain.
@Ilka4You "But he was the only racist President on the ballot, so what was I to do??!?!"
@randahl @Ilka4You Forget the racism. These farmers are multimillionaires. They don’t need a handout. They voted for the tax cuts, and they got them. They knew this was coming. They knew a handout would come too.
The handout will not be enough to cover their losses. Democrats need to stop it any way they can. These people aren’t the heart of america, and they aren’t voting for Democrats. Let them sink.
@randahl yes, that is painfully true.
Democrats always insist on the 100% perfect candidate and thus always loose - there is none. They cannot vote for a 95% good candidate it seems. The right wing always is happy with a 1% candidate: white, male, he talks, good enough they vote for him.
@randahl
Well, let’s not pretend the EU does not (co)finance its farmers. And in a way that doesn’t help the environment or, in the long term, the farmers…
