馃У 1/ These days, we unfortunately hear again about #journalists being #killed, and in social media repeated debates ask about whether a few more or a few less were killed (every single one is one too many).
Where do they get the figures? Some sources to help:
1. In latest news, journalists weigh up their sources and try to verify information (especially names). This can be very difficult depending on the situation at the place and may change over time.
馃У 2/ At this time, individual newspapers may still have different figures depending on their informants. The more the journalists can check with each other and their informants in the current situation, the more the figures will converge. The most important information is: confirmation of death, the name (a press card is helpful here) and, if possible, the cause of death.
Later, confirmed cases enter into official statistics and databases. You get them at the UNESCO which is the lead UN agency
